| 1 | 酒能使人亵慢,浓酒使人喧嚷。凡因酒错误的,就无智慧。
Wine is a mocker and beer a brawler; whoever is led astray by them is not wise. | |

A king's wrath is like the roar of a lion; he who angers him forfeits his life. | |
| 3 | 远离分争,是人的尊荣。愚妄人都爱争闹。
It is to a man's honor to avoid strife, but every fool is quick to quarrel. | |
| 4 | 懒惰人因冬寒不肯耕种。到收割的时候,他必讨饭,而无所得。
A sluggard does not plow in season; so at harvest time he looks but finds nothing. | |
| 5 | 人心怀藏谋略,好像深水。惟明哲人,才能汲引出来。
The purposes of a man's heart are deep waters, but a man of understanding draws them out. | |
| 6 | 人多述说自己的仁慈。但忠信人谁能遇着呢?
Many a man claims to have unfailing love, but a faithful man who can find? | |
| 7 | 行为纯正的义人,他的子孙,是有福的。
The righteous man leads a blameless life; blessed are his children after him. | |
| 8 | 王坐在审判的位上,以眼目驱散诸恶。
When a king sits on his throne to judge, he winnows out all evil with his eyes. | |
| 9 | 谁能说,我洁净了我的心。我脱净了我的罪。
Who can say, "I have kept my heart pure; I am clean and without sin"? | |
| 10 | 两样的法码,两样的升斗,都为耶和华所憎恶。
Differing weights and differing measures--the LORD detests them both. | |
| 11 | 孩童的动作,是清洁,是正直,都显明他的本性。
Even a child is known by his actions, by whether his conduct is pure and right. | |
| 12 | 能听的耳,能看的眼,都是耶和华所造的。
Ears that hear and eyes that see--the LORD has made them both. | |
| 13 | 不要贪睡,免致贫穷。眼要睁开,你就吃饱。
Do not love sleep or you will grow poor; stay awake and you will have food to spare. | |
| 14 | 买物的说,不好,不好。及至买去,他便自夸。
"It's no good, it's no good!" says the buyer; then off he goes and boasts about his purchase. | |
| 15 | 有金子,和许多珍珠。(或作红宝石)惟有知识的嘴,乃为贵重的珍宝。
Gold there is, and rubies in abundance, but lips that speak knowledge are a rare jewel. | |
| 16 | 谁为生人作保,就拿谁的衣服。谁为外人作保,谁就要承当。
Take the garment of one who puts up security for a stranger; hold it in pledge if he does it for a wayward woman. | |
| 17 | 以虚谎而得的食物,人觉甘甜。但后来他的口,必充满尘沙。
Food gained by fraud tastes sweet to a man, but he ends up with a mouth full of gravel. | |
| 18 | 计谋都凭筹算立定。打仗要凭智谋。
Make plans by seeking advice; if you wage war, obtain guidance. | |
| 19 | 往来传舌的,泄漏密事。大张嘴的不可与他结交。
A gossip betrays a confidence; so avoid a man who talks too much. | |
| 20 | 咒骂父母的,他的灯必灭,变为漆黑的黑暗。
If a man curses his father or mother, his lamp will be snuffed out in pitch darkness. | |
| 21 | 起初速得的产业,终久却不为福。
An inheritance quickly gained at the beginning will not be blessed at the end. | |
| 22 | 你不要说,我要以恶报恶。要等候耶和华,他必拯救你。
Do not say, "I'll pay you back for this wrong!" Wait for the LORD, and he will deliver you. | |
| 23 | 两样的法码,为耶和华所憎恶。诡诈的天平,也为不善。
The LORD detests differing weights, and dishonest scales do not please him. | |
| 24 | 人的脚步,为耶和华所定。人岂能明白自己的路呢?
A man's steps are directed by the LORD. How then can anyone understand his own way? | |
| 25 | 人冒失说,这是圣物,许愿之后才查问,就是自陷网罗。
It is a trap for a man to dedicate something rashly and only later to consider his vows. | |
| 26 | 智慧的王,簸散恶人,用碌碡滚轧他们。
A wise king winnows out the wicked; he drives the threshing wheel over them. | |
| 27 | 人的灵是耶和华的灯,鉴察人的心腹。
The lamp of the LORD searches the spirit of a man; it searches out his inmost being. | |
| 28 | 王因仁慈和诚实,得以保全他的国位,也因仁慈立稳。
Love and faithfulness keep a king safe; through love his throne is made secure. | |
| 29 | 强壮乃少年人的荣耀。白发为老年人的尊荣。
The glory of young men is their strength, gray hair the splendor of the old. | |
| 30 | 鞭伤除净人的罪恶。责打能入人的心腹。
Blows and wounds cleanse away evil, and beatings purge the inmost being. | |
