To do what is right and just is more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice. | |

Haughty eyes and a proud heart, the lamp of the wicked, are sin! | |
| 5 | 殷勤籌劃的、足致豐裕.行事急躁的、都必缺乏。
The plans of the diligent lead to profit as surely as haste leads to poverty. | |
| 6 | 用詭詐之舌求財的、就是自己取死.所得之財、乃是吹來吹去的浮雲。
A fortune made by a lying tongue is a fleeting vapor and a deadly snare. | |
| 7 | 惡人的強暴必將自己掃除.因他們不肯按公平行事。
The violence of the wicked will drag them away, for they refuse to do what is right. | |
| 8 | 負罪之人的路甚是彎曲.至於清潔的人、他所行的乃是正直。
The way of the guilty is devious, but the conduct of the innocent is upright. | |
| 9 | 寧可住在房頂的角上、不在寬闊的房屋、與爭吵的婦人同住。
Better to live on a corner of the roof than share a house with a quarrelsome wife. | |
| 10 | 惡人的心、樂人受禍.他眼並不憐恤鄰舍。
The wicked man craves evil; his neighbor gets no mercy from him. | |
| 11 | 褻慢的人受刑罰、愚蒙的人就得智慧.智慧人受訓誨、便得知識。
When a mocker is punished, the simple gain wisdom; when a wise man is instructed, he gets knowledge. | |

The Righteous One takes note of the house of the wicked and brings the wicked to ruin. | |

A gift given in secret soothes anger, and a bribe concealed in the cloak pacifies great wrath. | |
| 15 | 秉公行義、使義人喜樂、使作孽的人敗壞。
When justice is done, it brings joy to the righteous but terror to evildoers. | |
| 16 | 迷離通達道路的、必住在陰魂的會中。
A man who strays from the path of understanding comes to rest in the company of the dead. | |
| 17 | 愛宴樂的、必致窮乏.好酒愛膏油的、必不富足。
He who loves pleasure will become poor; whoever loves wine and oil will never be rich. | |
| 18 | 惡人作了義人的贖價.奸詐人代替正直人。
The wicked become a ransom for the righteous, and the unfaithful for the upright. | |
| 19 | 寧可住在曠野、不與爭吵使氣的婦人同住。
Better to live in a desert than with a quarrelsome and ill-tempered wife. | |
| 20 | 智慧人家中積蓄寶物膏油.愚昧人隨得來隨吞下。
In the house of the wise are stores of choice food and oil, but a foolish man devours all he has. | |

The proud and arrogant man--"Mocker" is his name; he behaves with overweening pride. | |
| 25 | 懶惰人的心願、將他殺害、因為他手不肯作工。
The sluggard's craving will be the death of him, because his hands refuse to work. | |
| 26 | 有終日貪得無饜的.義人施捨而不吝惜。
All day long he craves for more, but the righteous give without sparing. | |
| 27 | 惡人的祭物是可憎的、何況他存惡意來獻呢。
The sacrifice of the wicked is detestable--how much more so when brought with evil intent! | |
| 28 | 作假見證的必滅亡.惟有聽真情而言的、其言長存。
A false witness will perish, and whoever listens to him will be destroyed forever. | |
